Privacy Policy
Effective September 27, 2026
ErgLadder runs competitive ladders for Concept2 RowErg, SkiErg and BikeErg athletes. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, how long we keep it, and how to delete it. Questions: hello@athmetrics.com.
What we collect
- Account. You sign in with Apple. Apple gives us a private identifier for your account, not your email address. If Apple shares your name, the app only offers it as a suggested racing name; the racing name you choose is what we store.
- Profile. Your racing name. Optionally, your birth date, which we use only to work out your age group, and your Instagram username, which goes on result cards (see below). We also store your Grit points and your public-name choice, and the athletes you've blocked.
- Races. When you race, the app reads your PM5's serial number, model and firmware, and the workout results (time, distance, pace and power). We record challenges, attempts, results, rankings and changes in standings so we can verify and resolve competitions.
- Weigh-ins (Power-to-Weight ladders only). The body weight you submit and the photo you choose of your weigh-in.
- Gyms. Your gym memberships and codes. Gym owners give their gym a name.
- Requests. Any note you add to a category change request or to a report about another athlete, and emails you send us.
- Concept2 Logbook (optional). If you link your Logbook, we receive your Logbook user ID and username, and keep the access Concept2 grants us, encrypted, until you disconnect or delete your account.
- Server logs. Our server records each request's IP address, time and page or API address, to keep the service running and secure.
Existing app builds do not include analytics. Starting with the next app release, optional Google Analytics for Firebase measures basic app usage only if you enable “Share app usage analytics” in Profile. App analytics is off by default; you can turn it off at any time. It uses an app-instance identifier, and advertising identifiers and personalization are disabled. We do not send your account details, birth date, body weight, photos or race records to app analytics. We do not include advertising or crash-reporting tools. On our website, optional Google Analytics measures page views and site interactions only after you allow analytics cookies. You can decline or change your choice using Cookie settings. We do not send your account details, birth date, body weight, weigh-in photos or race records to Google Analytics. We disable advertising personalization and Google signals, and remove query strings and fragments from the page and referrer addresses we send.
How we use it
To run your account and the ladders: verifying eligibility and race results, calculating scores, rankings and Grit, reviewing weigh-ins, responding to support requests, and keeping competitions fair. We don't sell personal information or use it for advertising.
Who can see it
- Athletes in a ladder see racing names, age groups, rankings and the results of their competitions. Gym ladders are visible only to that gym's members.
- Public leaderboards and result cards show your racing name only if you turn on the public-name setting. Otherwise you appear as “Anonymous athlete” and your age group is hidden.
- Your weigh-in photo and body weight are visible only to you and to ErgLadder's reviewers. Other athletes see a Power-to-Weight score (watts per kilogram), never your weight or photo.
- Your birth date is never shown to anyone; only your age group is.
- You can share a result card from the app once a race is settled. It's made on your phone and you choose where it goes; ErgLadder doesn't post it. Your card shows your racing name and your Instagram username if you've added one. On a card your opponent shares, you appear as your public-name setting allows, and your Instagram username shows only if you show your racing name.
Don't put private information in your racing name or in a category change note.
Service providers
- Amazon Web Services hosts our server, database, weigh-in photos and backups in the United States.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple.
- Google provides optional website analytics and, in the next app release, optional app analytics through Firebase. When you allow it, Google receives website usage events, a cookie identifier and device/browser information. If you enable analytics in the upcoming app release, Google also receives basic app usage events, an app-instance identifier and device information. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Concept2 receives a race result only when you choose to save it to your Logbook. Your Logbook's privacy settings and Concept2's privacy policy apply there.
We may disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Account, profile and race information: while your account exists.
- Weigh-in photos: deleted automatically 90 days after upload, or sooner if you delete your account.
- Server logs: 14 days.
- Reports about athletes: kept as moderation records. Blocks are deleted when you delete your account.
- Backups: encrypted database backups are kept for up to 37 days, so deleted information can remain in them for that long before it's gone.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Profile, then Delete account. We then end all your sessions, revoke ErgLadder's access to your Apple ID, and delete your profile details, birth date, Instagram username, public-name choice, weigh-ins and their photos, PM5 identifiers, and your Concept2 Logbook link. Results you saved to your Logbook stay there; delete them in your Logbook. Completed race results stay in ladder history under “Deleted athlete”, so your opponents' records still make sense. You can also email hello@athmetrics.com from any address; we may need to confirm the account is yours.
Your choices
Your birth date and Power-to-Weight ladders are optional, and you can change your public-name setting at any time. The app only uses Bluetooth to connect to your PM5, and only reads the photo you pick.
Children
ErgLadder isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Security
Information is sent over encrypted connections. Weigh-in photos are stored privately and encrypted, and can only be opened through short-lived links from our server. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the effective date.
